Clinic Overview
- This clinic accepts referrals for patients under 18 years of age for allergy concerns including food allergies, antibiotic allergies, allergic rhinitis, anaphylaxis and hives.
Appointment booking
- A referral is required from a physician or nurse practitioner. Referrals can be faxed to 905-497-7707.
- Once the referral is received, we will contact you within 2 weeks to schedule your appointment.
- Due to a high volume of referrals, there can be a wait of a few months for an allergy appointment. We always try to accommodate urgent concerns as soon as possible.
Preparing yourself/your child for appointments
- Allergy testing does not involve needles. Tests are performed on the forearms or back.
- Refrain from taking medications that contain antihistamines (eg. Claritin, Reactine, Benadryl, Aerius) 5 days prior to the appointment. These medications interfere with tests. Asthma inhalers and most nasal sprays can be continued. Contact us if you have any questions about medications.
- If there are concerns about allergies to fruits, vegetables, legumes, fish or shellfish, please bring a small sample of the food (e.g. tomato, mango, kiwi, strawberry, cooked shrimp, cooked fish) for allergy skin testing. You do not need to bring nuts for testing.
